Job Loss

If you have lost your job then you are going to find out really quick that life is expensive without a job. The first thing that is gonna hit you is your rent payment. In most cases rent is the most expensive monthly payment people make. This is exactly why you are going to need help with rent right away. Just because you are newly out of work does not mean that everything is lost. You need to itemize exactly what you are spending your money on, then you need to budget things out, getting rid of costs for things you don’t absolutely need. Look into getting unemployment right away. You can usually do this online and it takes only a few minutes. Once you have your spending charted and under control and unemployment is on its way, you have to start looking for a new job as soon as you can. Same day you lose your job you should be looking for a new one. It is said that most people land jobs from connections they already had. This means you need to start contacting everyone you know and letting them know you are ready for any position. Also, temp agencies are a great tool while you are unemployed and need money to pay bills. If you are looking at pulling out a small short term loan you might want to think about going to a local temp agency first. They will be able to get you hired at small jobs here and there around your city. In some cases these small jobs end up turning into full time positions. Lastly, you might need to work out of your skill set. If you have been working at something for a long time you may need to think about trying other trades. Your main goal is to make money so that you can pay rent and bills. If this means that you do a little local landscaping for a few hundred dollars then that’s what you have to do. Losing your job is never a good thing but you need to take it for what it is and move on with your professional life. Once you land a new job you will probably have to deal with a small amount of debt that you may have accrued during your time unemployed so be prepared to use some of your money to pay for that.

  5. I have been unemployed for 2 years, my husband of 17 years just left me and cleaned out the account, left it in the negative so the bank closed the account. Now I have no way to pay the rent, electric or internet. I need help and I just don’t know where to turn to or who to ask for help. I have asked my whole family and they don’t have it. My dad is sending me $200. But that isn’t enough to pay rent of $1035. I just need to know where i can go for help who I can ask. I have always been the person that helps other people I hate that I have to ask for any help. But I have run out of options and I was served notice to pay or quit and there is no money. Please help please I’m begging what do I do

  6. I’ve been unemployed for the past 2 years. I’ve submitted numerous applications. Nothing pans out and I don’t believe that it is because I am not qualified but because of my age – 59 (which no one dares to mention). My unemployment ins has run out and now I am two months behind in rent and facing eviction. I need help. It would not be a handout because, I am sure that eventually I will find something or as I am trying to do now, start my own income source online. I’d be more than happy to pay it back so that it may be available for the next person that needs it. I just need help.
