Helpwithrent.org has been helping people for years. And over those years we have noticed that many people are not getting the help they need. Really each person has a unique situation and each situation will have a different solution. We are trying to provide a forum where people can talk about common problems they have encountered and the solutions that have been found. This is the place to ask for help. Here are some top reasons that people end up needing help with rent and bills:

Top Reasons People Fall Behind In Rent and Bills:

Medical Bills:

Medical bills can really become a problem especially for people with out health insurance. If you do not have health insurance it is with in your best interest to get it because very small hospital procures can cost thousands. If you are a healthy person that is not extremely old, you should be able to get reasonably priced health insurance. If you have already had a medical condition then you are probably burred under a stack of medical bills. Not being able to pay medical bills is the number one reason for bankruptcy in 2010. We can not stress enough if you do not have health insurance…GET IT for the assurance.

Job Loss:

There is no secret that our nation is in a unemployment crisis. Unemployment hovers around 10% which is a very high number for general unemployment. There are some pointers for those of you that have lost your jobs. First, apply for unemployment the same day you are fired from work. Weather or not you think you are eligible for unemployment, it will not hurt to apply. Next, START JOB hunting. Job hunting can be tricky but it is said that 80% of people that get new jobs get them from connections they already had. Network and try and find where people are needed and where you might be able to get an edge on the next applicant by working some relationships and connections you have made in the past. This will not always be easy that is why you need to be looking for ANY work that is available even if it is outside normal trade. There are also countless websites and programs to help you get work. Use them.

Children:

It is a very delicate balance between parenting and working. This is especially tough for single parent families. It is best to try and find family members that are willing to watch your children for free while you work. If you are forced to use a babysitter you may want to choose high-school kids because they are often willing to babysitter for less then official babysitting services and in many cases teens can be just as good with your children. Also, the government offers many programs to struggling parents. These programs have different names depending on what state you live in but popular ones are welfare, food stamps and WIC. Be sure to check in with your stats programs to see if you are eligible. Just a little help from a couple of these services can really help a family financially stable.

Credit Card Debt:

Credit card debt is a serious problem in America. If you are suffering from credit card debt, you are not alone. Plenty of Americans are having problems managing their credit. There are many companies out there that claim to help you organize your debt but truth be told you can do this yourself. Managing your credit means you have to make an effort to actually impact the account balance past the interest. Call your creditors ask them for a suggested monthly payment that you can make to aggressively lower your credit card balance. Usually you can work out a 12 month plan to get a few thousand dollars knocked of your credit card. This seems like a small amount for a year long plan but if you stick to it, after a couple years you will have made some good headway on getting yourself out of debt. Again, ask your creditor for suggested payment amounts for you to help lower your balance. This is key.

Foreclosure:

Homeowners are really getting hit hard right now. There are not many home owners that can say they bought a house within the last few years and are seeing a rise in value already. Today you are either a new homeowner dealing with a slightly deprecating home or you are upside down in a home you bought years ago when the price of houses was outrageous. Fact is if you are upside-down in your house you may want to consider foreclosure. This government website can help you get in contact with a Foreclosure avoidance counselor:

http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/topics/avoiding_foreclosure

If you are worried about foreclosure you would really wanna use that link to start getting advice on a solution to your unique situation. New homeowners are in an ok position. The market is expected to recover but the investment may take 10 years before you get a decent return. You can even just go into your local bank and get advice on the value of your house and what type of plan you want to pursue. Also, you can visit our sister site for Assistance with rent.
